The easing of travel restrictions following the COVID-19 pandemic has fueled a surge in bookings. Additionally, the city’s temperate climate and diverse offerings have made it an ideal destination for both domestic and international travelers. The hotel industry has been a major beneficiary of this tourism surge. The average hotel occupancy rate in San Diego was a strong 78% in 2022, up from 69% the previous year. Several major hotel chains have recently invested in new properties in the city, further bolstering the accommodation sector. The tourism revenue has also had a positive impact on the broader economy. Restaurants, retail stores, attractions, and other businesses have benefited from the increased visitor spending.
